Peripheral
On behalf of the CCT2024 Peripheral, I would like to make a brief greeting.
The threat of new infectious diseases that have continued since 2019 has been overcome, and the world has returned to normalcy, with academic meetings in other countries taking place onsite as usual.
Under such circumstances, the CCT2024 Peripheral will also be held in person at the Kobe International Exhibition Hall and Portopia Hotel from Thursday, October 24 to Saturday, October 26, 2024.
Like other meetings, we hope that more people will attend so that we can meet with them directly and exchange information.
This year, just like last year, we plan to have two rooms: one for live case transmissions and the other for scientific sessions. The main venue will be primarily used for live case transmissions. On the first day, live case transmissions will be broadcasted from Kyoto Katsura Hospital, and on the second day, from Toyohashi Heart Center.
In live case transmissions, we will basically pursue how to successfully treat difficult cases without complications that are challenging to treat in daily practice. "手技(Shu-gi)", the Japanese word of “procedure”, consists of letters of "hand" and "techniques". In order to achieve success in difficult cases, it is necessary to make full use of various techniques, and we would like to make live case transmissions where you can actually see and learn "hand techniques”.
As of this year’s live case transmissions, atherectomy devices can be used for the treatment of severe calcified lesions in the femoral below-the-knee artery area if necessary, like in other countries. We believe that the addition of treatment options for severe calcified lesions is one of the most significant highlights of this year. We would appreciate input from physicians who have hands-on experience with device usage regarding their valuable tips and important considerations.
In recent years, many reports have emerged suggesting that intraluminal angioplasty leads to improved results in the chronic phase. One of the greatest features of EVT performed in Japan is the availability of diagnostic devices that cannot be used overseas, such as IVUS, EVUS, OCT, and OFDI. We would like to explore the methods of performing intraluminal angioplasty using these devices and provide live case transmissions where you can learn how to use these devices effectively, along with helpful tips. Our goal is to create unique live sessions for CCT that stand out from international academic meetings.
This year, the CCT Peripheral Steering Committee, an organization of young physicians who will be responsible for the future of CCT, has been formed. They have been participating in planning programs other than live sessions, and have established classroom lecture sessions, which are divided into basic and advanced courses centered on video live sessions. On the last day, we will also offer hands-on sessions focusing on Bailout. We are confident that these sessions will be beneficial for tomorrow's practice, and we hope you will eagerly anticipate them as well.
We look forward to meeting you all again in person in Kobe.
